PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having excellent plant disease injury controlling efficacy, therefore useful as an agricultural/horticultural germicide in the field, paddy field, orchard, tea garden, pasture, etc. SOLUTION: This new compound is a compound of formula I [R1 is a (substituted) 1-10C alkyl or the like; R2 is a 1-6C alkyl or the like; R3 is a 1-6C alkoxy or the like; T, U and V are each CR4, CH, N or CR5; W is CR6 or N (R4 to R6 are each H, a halogen, 1-6C alkyl or the like)], e.g. 5-methoxy-2- methyl-4-(2-methyl-5-phenylbenzyl)-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, when R3 is a 1-6C alkoxy, 1-6C alkylthio, cyano, F, Br or I, by reaction between a chlorotriazolone compound of formula II and a compound of the formula R34-M (R34 is a 1-6C alkoxy, cyano, F, Br or the like; M is an alkali metal) (e.g. potassium fluoride) pref. at -20 to 200 deg.C for 1-100 h.
