PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator structure of a chain case which has the high degree of freedom to set a position and is formed without the increase of the size of an engine. SOLUTION: A chain case contains a chain/sprocket mechanism (a sprocket and a silent chain) arranged to effect interlocking rotation of a crank shaft and a cam shaft, and a guide shoe to protect a swing on the stretch side of a tensioner 18 to exert a given tension on the loose side of a chain. The internal part of the chain case is partitioned by protruding ribs 27a and 28 the edges of which are directed to surfaces 18a and 18b orthogonal to the tensioner or the crank shaft a guide shoe from at least one of one end face of an engine and the inner surface of a chain cover 24 joined with one end face. This constitution causes a separator to consist of a rib, protruded from a cylinder block or P chain cover 24, in cooperation with the tensioner or the guide shoe.
