PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an Al-contg. composite high strength material of high performance combining superhigh strength which has not heretofore been attained not only in the case of Al alloy wire rods but also in the case of bulk materials, ductility and toughness. SOLUTION: A powdery mixture in which Nb powder is almost uniformly dispersed into Al powder is prepd., and this powdery mixture is compacted to form into a billet 2. The billet 2 is inserted into a pipe 3 made of pure Cu, solid rods 4 made of pure Cu are inserted into both ends of the billet 2, which are sealed, and, after that, swaging is executed until the diameter of the billet 2 reaches 20 mm→2 mm (wire rod) at ordinary temp. After that, wire drawing is executed at ordinary temp. to obtain the composite high strength wire rod.
