PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a curable composite material giving high flame retardancy, chemical resistance and heat resistance after cured, and exhibiting high contrast to conductor foils through effectively absorbing visible rays by being constituted of a specific composition and a specific base material. SOLUTION: This composite material is obtained by being constituted of (A) a curable polyphenylene ether-based resin composition, a composition containing as a component a polyphenylene ether-based resin (modified product thereof) with anηsp/c (30 deg.C, 0.5 g/dL chloroform solution) of 0.1-1.0 [e.g. poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene ether)] and (B) a base material containing pref. >=50 vol.%, more pref. >=10 vol.%, furthermore pref. >=90 vol.% of black-colored glass fibers; wherein the component B accounts for pref. 5-90 wt.%, more pref. 10-80 wt.%, furthermore pref. 20-70 wt.% of this composite material.
