<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel axis differential gear with a planetary gear set having an anti-chipping mechanism for supporting pinions over its full length. SOLUTION: In this differential gear, a gear set 30 is disposed in a housing, while having a pair of side gears 62, 64 fixed to output shafts to rotate, and two or more pairs of pinions 70, 74 meshing with each other, pivotally mounted in a gear pocket formed in the housing. Each the pinion 70, 74 has a gear segment meshing with a gear segment of another pinion 74, 70, and with one of side gears 62, 64. An anti-chipping mechanism has brake shoes 90 journalled to stub shaft segments of the pinions 70, 74. Each the brake shoe 90 has a first support surface 94 engaging with an outer diameter surface of the corresponding side gear 62, 64, a second support surface 96 engaging with an outer diameter surface of the gear segment of the adjacent meshing pinion 70, 74, and a third support surface 98 engaging with a wall surface of the gear pocket.</p> |
