PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the jetting of gaseous oxygen to a portion which does not stick skull, by inserting a jig into a side hole faced to the portion which does not stick the skull when the skull stuck onto a converter is removed by jetting the gaseous oxygen. SOLUTION: When the skull stuck onto the converter is removed by jetting the oxygen from the side holes 2b opened at the upper part from a tip lance hole at the pretreatment of molten iron, the control jig 1 is inserted into the side hole 2b faced to the portion which does not stick the skull, and the side hole 2b is closed to regulate the jetting of the gaseous oxygen. The shaking of a plate-like pendulum 1b attached pivotally with a pin 3 at the tip part of the jig body 1a so as to be freely shakable to the jig body 1a, is regulated so as not to project from the extended line in the longitudinal direction of the jig body 1a to only one direction with a stopper 1c fitted to the jig body 1a. When the jig body 1a inserted into the jetting hole 2b reaches the position along the inner peripheral surface of the inner tube 2c of the main lance 2, a flange 1d is abutted on the outer tube 2d to stop the insertion. In this way, the erosion of the furnace wall refractory can be prevented.
