PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize molten metal surface level, to reduce the remaining slag, to shorten the slag removing time and to improve the productivity. SOLUTION: When the molten metal is refined by using an exhaust gas treating system 6 and an attachable/detachable refining vessel 3, an openable/ closable slag discharging hole 7 is arranged at the upper part of the side wall in the refining vessel and the pressure in the refining vessel during refining is regulated to 1.2-5.0 kgf/cm2G, and while continuing the refining of the molten metal, the slag discharging hole is opened to continuously remove the refining slag 2.
