PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and low cost color image forming apparatus capable of forming a high quality image. SOLUTION: This color image forming apparatus comprises four photosensitive drums 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, a semiconductor laser array 2 that emits a light to either one of the photosensitive drums at a time, a rotating mirror 5 that switches an optical path of the laser beam outputted from the semiconductor laser array 2 to an optical path forwarding either one of the photosensitive drums, developing devices 11a, 11b, 11c, 11d and a fixing device 15.
