PURPOSE: A tri-level switching PWM(pulse width modulation) device is provided to embody a PWM circuit by adding a simple device and a logic current to an inverter or converter having a two-level switching. CONSTITUTION: A tri-level switching PWM(pulse width modulation) device comprises a counting unit, a running signal switching unit and dead time producing unit(3,4). The counting unit counts a reference clock according to ON/OFF time data of the switching element to produce a gate running signal. The running signal switching unit outputs and divides a gate running signal produced by the inputted mode change signal into a pair of corresponding switching element. The dead time producing unit produces a dead time between the pair of switching elements.
