PURPOSE: An apparatus for converting an image data frame rate is provided to convert the input/output image data frame rate irrespective of the level of a vertical frequency. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for converting an image data frame rate includes a frame memory(11) and a memory controller(12). The frame memory(11) stores the image data on a frame basis. The memory controller(12) according to the present invention generates a vertically synchronous signal corresponding to the input frame rate, write clock pulse, and write enable signal, supplies the signals to the frame memory to write the input memory data in the memory. The memory controller(12) further generates a vertically synchronous signal corresponding to the output frame rate, write clock pulse, and write enable signal and supplies the signal to the frame memory so as to read the image data stored in the frame memory responding to the output frame rate which is generated in the memory controller.
