摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a traffic using a GFC(General Flow Control) of an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) cell is provided to implement a traffic control algorithm for controlling the traffic between a network and a subscriber modem, by using a 4-bit GFC, so as to prevent an instant overload of the network and to accomplish an impartial band occupation effect between subscribers. CONSTITUTION: A cell detector(40) divides 4 ATM cell streams according to ADSL(Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line) modems and extracts the 4 ATM cell streams. The cell detector(40) transmits cell detecting signals to a counting unit(50) through an interface 'a', according to each channel. The counting unit(50) increases counters one by one, according to the channels. If a counter value becomes a preset threshold, the counting unit(50) transmits signals indicating that a corresponding ATM channel becomes the threshold, to a GFC(General Flow Control) controller(60) through an interface 'b'. The GFC controller(60) transmits the signal to a GFC filed recorder(70) through an interface 'c'. The GFC filed recorder(70) transmits a bit string indicating a cell transmission interruption relating to a GFC filed to the ADSL modems. If a traffic transmission state is favorable, a reset unit(80) resets the counter values as '0', through an interface 'd'.
