The system uses local terminals for detailed programming of beacons.- DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The system comprises a central server (SC) which manages the operation of a number of distress beacons (B).Terminals (T1) installed remotely from the server communicate with the beacons present on their particular site. Each terminal calls for information from the server, and provides a communication channel to the server, and via an interface (I1) to the beacons (B). The terminal provides information to the server regarding the use of specific individual beacons. The interface circuit can only operate under the control of the central server.
