PURPOSE: A control method for the damper clutch of a vehicle with an automatic transmission during the traveling on an uphill road is provided to change speed depending on driver's will without uniformly deciding a speed change time. CONSTITUTION: A control system checks if a damper clutch is within a non-operating area. If not, the system bans the damper clutch from releasing and if so, the system checks fluid temperature. The change of the fluid temperature is checked per three seconds. When the fluid temperature is less than 105deg.C, the damper clutch is banded from releasing. After that, the system checks the temperature again to decide if the change of the temperature of more than 5deg.C. When the change of the temperature is less than 5deg.C, the damper clutch is banded from releasing and when more than 5deg.C, the damper clutch is released. Thus, while traveling on an uphill road, a vehicle keeps accelerating and maintains engine brake effect even in an emergency situation. |
