The rigid axle is supported on the structure(5) of the vehicle by individual longitudinally linking leaf springs(52,53) or leaf spring packets which lie in a second link plane(50). The leaf springs or spring packets are semi-elliptic springs or quarter elliptic springs. With a rigid axle mounted on semi-elliptic springs the spring fixed mountings(58,59) lie in front of the axle in the direction of travel.
