CONTINUOUS PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR APPLYING A COATING MATERIAL TO POROUS NARROW SIDES OF WORKPIECES

The invention relates to a continuous process in which porous narrow sides of workpieces (1) made of wood, wood substitutes or wood-like materials, such as a board and notably a chipboard, are improved, coated with a separate coating material (6) and glued with same in a continuous step. According to the continuous process provided for in the invention a combined filler and adhesive mass (3) is applied to the narrow side (2) of the continuously moving workpiece (1). The separate coating material (6) is applied to said filler and adhesive mass (3) while it is still adhesive. The coating material (6) is then pressed against the profiled shape of the narrow workpiece side (2) such that it moulds around the outline of same and glued by means of the combined filler and adhesive mass (3). The invention also relates to a continuous machine for carrying out the above method.
