A clutch/brake device (1) of a machine press, comprising a stationary member (3) for rotatably supporting a flywheel (2), a rotating shaft (4) having a pivotally supporting shaft part (4c) supported rotatably on the stationary member (3), a rotating input member (5) fitted fixedly onto an input shaft part (4e) of the rotating shaft (4), a case member (6) fixed into the flywheel (2), a multiple disc clutch (7) installed between the case member (6) and the rotating input member (5), a multiple disc brake (8) installed between the stationary member (3) and the rotating input member (5), a changeover mechanism (9) including a fluid pressure cylinder (60) which is rotated integrally with the flywheel (2) and changes over between the multiple disc clutch (7) and the multiple disc brake (8), and an output part (63) formed in a piston member (62) of the fluid pressure cylinder (60) for transmitting a pressing force of the piston member (62) to a clutch disc (50) rotated integrally with the case member (6).
