The airfoil has a breaker strip (7) fitted on the leading edge of the wing near the wing tip. The breaker strip runs from the end of the straight edge of the front of the wing to near the outer rear end, or in some cases to the outer rear end. The position and height of the breaker strip is adjustable and the breaker strip can be on a retracting mounting. A simple form of breaker strip uses an inflatable tube, or a simple slat.
