The invention relates to a chip for encoding electronic data comprising an electronic sequential circuit, whereby the electronic sequential circuit is connected to a power source located, in particular, outside the chip. The inventive chip also comprises at least one additional electronic component. The aim of the invention is to provide a chip which exhibits a better protected encoding of the electronic data so that it is more difficult to be able to read out from the chip or to read out the encoding. To this end, a constant-current source is provided which is connected in series to the electronic sequential circuit and to the additional electronic component, and the other electronic component is provided as a reference voltage source which is connected in parallel to said electronic sequential circuit.
