<p>A motorized window shade assembly (1) for operating a window shade (3) having a rail (17) attached to one end of the shade (3) to extend and compress the shade (3) with movement of the rail (17). The motorized window shade assembly (1) includes a shell (71) having two sidewalls (75, 77) and a rail extending between the two sidewalls (75, 77) of the shell (71). The sidewalls (75, 77) have respective opposed inner surfaces with a channel (87, 89) therein, shoulders adjacent and perpendicular to the inner surfaces, respectively, and a traction surface (25, 27) on each of the shoulders. An axle (29) is rotatingly coupled to the rail (17) and has a traction wheel (21, 23) coupled to each end thereof. Opposite tips of the axle (29) ride within the channels (87, 89) in the sidewalls (75, 77), and the traction wheels (21, 23) engage the traction surface (25, 27). A motor (9) is attached to the rail (17) and is drivingly coupled to the axle (29).</p> |
