Air bag apparatus in motor vehicle

A lid plate (4) which covers the opening of an air bag case is integrally formed with an instrument panel cover (1). A peripheral edge (4d) of lid plate fixes a portion of metallic lid reinforcing board. A hinge portions which protrudes beyond portion installs a bracket fixed to air bag case, and bends during air bag expansion. Several holes (4e) made by laser beam machining are formed at regular intervals in the peripheral direction of peripheral edge of lid plate. Formation of grooves in lid plate opens it reliably during air bag expansion.
