The invention relates to a system and a method for interconnecting components (1, 2a..2n), especially software components of at least one data processing application. To interconnect said components (1, 2a..2n) without special programming, for example "glue code", the invention provides for the components (1, 2a..2n) to present at least one interface (S1, S2a..S2n) for directly interconnecting the components (1, 2a..2n). According to an alternative embodiment of the invention the components (1, 2) present interfaces (S1, S2) which can be interconnected via an interconnection component (7).
