Powder composition in which at least 90% of the particles have a diameter of 10-500 mu m comprises: (a) 5-30 wt.% of a combination of a ceramide (I), a C10-C24 fatty acid and a nonionic surfactant; and (b) 10-95 wt.% of a water-soluble or water-dispersible binder. Powder composition in which at least 90% of the particles have a diameter of 10-500 mu m comprises: (a) 5-30 wt.% of a combination of a ceramide of formula (I), a C10-C24 fatty acid and a nonionic surfactant; and (b) 10-95 wt.% of a water-soluble or water-dispersible binder: R<1>, R<2> = 10-22C alkyl or alkenyl; R<3> = H or 1-3C alkyl; R<4> = H, hydroxymethyl, hydroxyethyl, dihydroxyethyl or dihydroxypropyl; n = 1-6. An Independent claim is also included for production of the powder composition by mixing an aqueous composition containing component (a) with an aqueous composition containing component (b), homogenizing the mixture at elevated temperature, and spray drying the product.
