The light unit consists of a housing (1) with connecting surfaces (5-7) on its rear wall foe attachment, e.g. to a wall, a light source in the housing and an at least partly transparent cover for the front of the housing. The connecting surfaces are elongated-rectangular and flat and extend at a constant distance apart and at an angle to each other, whereby there is at least one connecting surface (6,7) on either side of a central connecting surface (5) at an angle of 30 or 45 degrees to the central connecting surface.
