The positioning switch (1) is centrally located in a diaphragm (10) which is segmented, with the segments serving as actuating faces (11,12) with further switching functions, typically one actuating face (11) is allocated to mirror heating. Another actuating face (12) is allocated to folding positioning. One actuating face may be an allocation or selection switch for the right hand or left hand association of the external mirror to the multifunction switch. Preferably the switching elements are combined in a common switch body.
