PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing device capable of polishing a workpiece having a free curved face with high precision. SOLUTION: This free curved face polishing device comprises a loading base for loading a workpiece, a polishing tool 12, and a drive mechanism pressing the polishing tool 12 against the workpiece at a predetermined pressure to rotate it. The polishing tool 12 is provided with a base, an elastic member covering a tip face of the base, and a polishing member covering a surface of the elastic member. The diameter R of the base is twice or more cycle of undulation included in machining error existing in the workpiece, the tip face of the base is a spherical face, and radius of curvature of the spherical face is equal to radius of curvature obtained by averaging radii of curvature of desired curved faces for machining the workpiece 1. |
