PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a spun-dyed polyester fiber fadeless in exposure to the sun, excellent in vividness and biodegradability and useful for clothes or the like by including a specific amount of coloring agent in a polyester mainly comprising an aliphatic polyester having a melting point no less than a predetermined value. SOLUTION: This polyester fiber mainly comprises an aliphatic polyester having a melting point of >=130 deg.C e.g. a polyester having L-lactic acid as a main component, and further comprises 0.5 to 6 wt.%. of coloring agent e.g. pigment having >=30 wt.%. of carbon black. Preferably, the index of reflection of the aliphatic polyester is <=1.50, the cross section of the polyester-based fiber is non-circular or hollow, the length of the polyester-based fiber is 3 to 150 mm, and the particle diameter of carbon black is <=1μm.
