PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject binder fiber excellent in durability and having antimicrobial and heat resistant properties useful for filter base material or the like by exposing an aliphatic lactone-copolymerized polyester including a specified ratio of a specified phosphorous ester compound on a part of fiber- surface. SOLUTION: This binder fiber is a polyester-based conjugated fiber consisting of a high melting polyester and an aliphatic lactone-copolymerized polyester having >=30 deg.C lower crystal melting point than the former and, in the aliphatic lactone-copolymerrized polyester, 0.05-10 wt.% of one or more phosphorous ester of compound of formula I (R1 is a 4-12C branched alkyl, cycloalkyl or the like; R2 is H, a 1-12C alkyl, arylalkyl or the like; R3 is H, a 1-12C alkyl or the like; R4 and R5 are each a 1-8C alkyl, hydroxy substituted 1-4C alkyl; R4 and R5 combinedly form a group of formula II) and such as of formula III or IV is added and the aliphatic lactone-copolymerized polyester is exposed to a part of the fiber-surface.
