PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve color representation capability on a screen when conducting a color display by using color pallets and to switch color pallets at a high speed. SOLUTION: Plural pallet data are stored in areas CLUT1, CLUT2, CLUT3,... of a memory 3. By specifying addresses by a color pallet storage address register 12, desired color pallet data among the color pallet data stored in the areas CLUT1, CLUT2, CLUT3,... are transferred to a color pallet storage section 13. Then, a coloring process is conducted using the color pallet transferred to the section 13. The color representation capability is improved by dividing one screen into plural areas in a horizontal direction and switching color pallet data for every divided area.
