PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grasp character information even during scroll by differentiating the timing for updating the map road information and the name information when a map display is scrolled. SOLUTION: The navigation system comprises means for monitoring scroll operation, means for scrolling a map while updating the map display every first specified period when scroll operation is detected, and means for updating the display position of name character during second specified period longer than the first specified period when scroll operation is detected. A scroll operation switch is monitored, and a numeral X is brought to 0 when scroll operation is conducted. When scroll operation is not conducted, display only of the road/ land mark is updated in correspondence with the scroll direction if the numeral X > a specified reference value is not satisfied and 1 is added to the numeral X otherwise the display of name is also updated based on a map data and the numeral X is returned back to 0. |
