PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable favorable and efficient polishing by relatively bringing a glass funnel and a grinding wheel close to each other by a designated amount, and then relatively pressing a seal edge and the grinding wheel under designated pressure to perform contact pressure polishing. SOLUTION: A glass funnel 12 is pressed to a grinding wheel 16 with a yoke part 13 supported from the outside by a yoke support ring 14 and with a seal edge 12A turned downward. The yoke support ring 14 is provided on the lower end part of a rod 22 of a driving cylinder 20, and the pressing force of the driving cylinder 20 is transmitted to the glass funnel 12. Further, the driving cylinder 20 is installed in the center of a horizontal beam 26, and the horizontal beam 26 has both end parts to which the upper ends of feed rods 28 of a feed screw device 18 are fixed. While a motor 42 of the feed screw device 18 is driven to lower the horizontal beam 26, the seal edge 12A of the glass funnel 12 is polished by a fixed amount to remove a preset machining allowance, and the feed screw device is stopped to perform constant-pressure polishing under a designated pressure.
