The main body (1) of the device is attached to the upright post of the fence. The end of the cross bar rests on a flat surface (2), which is screwed to the pivot shaft (3). The shaft is screwed into a disc (5) which pivots on a horizontal shaft (6) in the main body. The disc is held by a spring-loaded detent mechanism (11, 12) which locates in a dent (8) in the disc. If the downward pressure exceeds a preset value, the support pivots from horizontal (A) to vertical position (B).
