PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the heat loss of a four-way valve by reducing a pressure loss in a refrigerating cycle while employing a four-way valve by a method wherein the four-way valve is arranged so that a pipeline, connected to the discharging port of the compressor, is positioned at a place lower than a horizontal line. SOLUTION: At first, a refrigerant communicating passage 221 and a refrigerant communicating passage 223 are brought into a communicating condition through a pilot valve 220. High-pressure refrigerant, discharged out of a compressor, is introduced into a chamber 210B in a valve main body 210 from a gas side pipeline 62D, then, flows from a communicating passage 211A into a chamber 210C. In this case, the refrigerant, which has flowed into the chamber 210A, flows into a gas side pipeline 62E. Accordingly, a gas pressure in the chamber 210A is not raised. On the other hand, the refrigerant, which has flowed into the chamber 210C, flows into a refrigerant communicating passage 222 from an outside leading port 216. However, the refrigerant flow passage 222 is sealed and the chamber 210C becomes a high pressure state. Accordingly, a piston 211 is moved to a direction for narrowing the chamber 210A whereby the outside leading port is sealed by a projection 211H and the flow of refrigerant in the communicating passage 211A is stopped.
