PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently retrieve data base resources distributed to a network and to efficiently retrieve data of a high evaluation value without imposing a large burden to the network and the data base. SOLUTION: In the case of executing data retrieval by the previously determined prescribed number of retrievals, retrieving processing for a local data base 7 in the same LAN 1 is executed at first and answer data accumulated in an answer integration device 9 are counted up by an answer counter 8. At the time of judging that the prescribed number of answer data can not be obtained from the data base 7, a retrieving device 6 retrieves a remote data base 3 through a communication equipment 2. Thereby retrieval requests to an unnecessary data base can be reduced and burdens imposed to the network and the remote data base 3 can be reduced.
