PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce pumping loss under partial load operation, and effectively prevent output reduction under total load operation. SOLUTION: This method for controlling temperature of intake air of an internal combustion engine is composed of varying opening/closing rates of a hot air valve 3 according to temperature variation of intake air containing hot air, outside air, or both of them. The temperature of the intake air is kept within a specified range by controlling the mixture ratio of the hot air and the outside air. The mixture ratio is also controlled based on negative pressure variation in an intake chamber 13 and a negative pressure state specified from control parameters. Under the specified condition, the hot air valve 3 is forcibly opened for introducing the outside air irrespective of temperature of the intake air. |
