PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the slurry state dust from fixing in the inside of a dust catcher caused by generating the drain in the preheated exhaust gas and changing the dust in the dust catcher into the slurry state by making inert gas flow into the dust catcher in the case of preheating a vacuum degassing vessel. SOLUTION: The preheating work of a vacuum degassing vessel 1 is executed by closing a cutoff valve 8 disposed at the downstream side of a dust catcher 3. Thereafter, the inert gas is filled in the dust catcher 3 from the inert gas supplying piping 12 and the inert gas filled therein is exhausted to the vacuum degassing vessel 1 side. As a result, the inner part of the dust catcher 3 is replaced into the inert gas atmosphere, and since the exhaust gas at the preheating time, is not made to flow into the dust catcher 3 and the combustion reaction of fuel gas is not developed, H2O is not generated. Therefore, since a gas cooler 4 does not come into contact with the H2O, the drain-generation in the dust catcher 3 can be prevented.
