PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the erosion of a refractory the min. limit and to improve the desulfurizing reaction efficiency of soda ash by blending converter slag produced in the case of blowing the dephosphorized molten iron in a molten iron pretreatment and the soda ash at the specific ratio. SOLUTION: Desulfurizing agent for molten iron is adjusted by incorporating the converter slag and the soda ash. The weight of the converter slag is blended in the range of 5-100% of the weight of the soda ash. The used converter slag is desirable to use the slag produced in the case of blowing the molten iron which completes the dephosphorizing treatment in the molten iron pretreatment. As the soda ash source, the material which Na gas produced by reaction of dust generated in the case of executing the refining by using the soda ash is oxidized in the air, is used as the main source, and the material containing high soda concn. can be used. In the case of using the converter slag, since both of SiO2 content and T/Fe (Fe content in the iron oxide) have the effect to prevent the decomposition and the vaporization of the soda ash, these contents are profitable in the point of promoting the desulfurizing reaction.
