PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a substrate having a cured film which exhibits sufficient scratch resistance even when it is thin by irradiating a layer formed on the surface of a substrate and containing an actinic radiation-curable compound with an actinic radiation in an inert gas atmosphere. SOLUTION: The substrate coated with a cured coating film deteriorates less in scratch resistance as compared with a cured-film-coated substrate obtained by irradiation with an actinic radiation in air even when it has a thickness of 3μm or below. The activated-energy ray-curable compound is desirably a polyfunctional acrylate composition such as one based on a polyfunctional acrylate compound such as a urethane acrylate compound or an ester acrylate compound. The activated energy ray used is exemplified by electron beams or ultraviolet rays. The cured-film-coated substrate is useful as, e.g. a projection television front panel, an optical lens, a soundproof plate, or a building material.
