PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a logical connection with a storage device even from a host device to which the logical connection (authentication) is not permitted by a request using device identification information. SOLUTION: A storage device (node 1-2-n) previously stores arbitrary identification information which does no depend on a host device (node 3-1). When a connection request using the device identification information is refused, the host device generates authentication request information (PLOGI) including the arbitrary identification information and transmits it to the storage device (step 208). The storage device compares this arbitrary identification information from the host device with the previously held arbitrary identification information and when both information are matched, a response (ACC) to permit authentication is generated and transmitted to the host device (step 209). The host device confirms this response (ACC) and detects the authentication is permitted (step 210). Thus, usability can be improved by flexibly coping with the addition/change of the host device.
