PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery diaphragm having excellent chemical resistance, low electric resistance, excellent ion selective permeability, and high mechanical strength. SOLUTION: This battery diaphragm comprises a compounded diaphragm formed by compounding cross-linked polymers (B1) containing iterative units of vinyl heterocyclic compounds having two or more hydrophilic groups on a porous base material (A), or a compounded diaphragm formed by decomposing a part of a functioning group after compounding a cross-linked polymer (B2) containing iterative unit of vinyl compound having functioning group on a porous base material (A), and a compounded diaphragm formed by compounding a cross-linked polymer (B3) containing iterative unit of vinyl compound having functioning group on the porous base material (A), and compounding of a cross- linked polymer to the porous base material (A) is carried out by forming a cross-linked polymer (B3) in the porous structure by photopholymerization after impregnating monomer mixture of a vinyl compound having functioning group and a cross-linked monomer into the porous structure of the porous base material (A). |
