PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolyester suitable as adhesives and coating materials which is good in color tone and transparency and does not cause a precipitate when dissolved in a solvent. SOLUTION: This copolyester has an acid component in which 2-70 mol% are adipic acid and 30-98 mol% are an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a glycol component in which 10-80 mol% are neopentyl glycol. The polyester contains 1×10-5-1×10-4 mol germanium atom per mol of the acid component and has a glass transition point of not lower than 0 deg.C and an intrinsic viscosity of 0.3-1.5.
