PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and accurately assaying DNA methyltransferase. SOLUTION: This method comprises the steps of (1) reacting a DNA which is modified with a ligand compound such as biotin which can be caught by a receptor compound such as avidin, and can serve as a substrate for DNA methyltransferase, with DNA methyltransferase in a sample in the presence of a labelled methyl-donating compound, (2) reacting the obtained methylated DNA with an insoluble carrier to which a receptor compound is linked, and (3) detecting the methyl group derived from the methyl-donating compound which was introduced to the DNA which was linked to the carrier. |
