PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the discharging of gas easily from a heat exchanger after gas is collided against a product by a method wherein the width of the heat exchanger in the widthwise direction of a flat product is specified so as to have a width capable of discharging gas downward at both sides of a plenum chamber. SOLUTION: Plenum chambers 11 are extended in parallel to a rolled product 1. The width of respective plenum chambers 11 and distances between the plenum chambers 11 are specified so that gas can be discharged between the plenum chambers 11 without disturbing the outflow of gas from blades 12. Distances D1-2 or the distance D2-3 between plenum chambers 11 are different values with respect to the pair of plenum chambers. Discharging ports 14 for discharging gas after injection are arranged between plenum chambers 11 on a plane defined by the rear surface opposite to the front surfaces of the plenum chambers 11. According to this method, the circulation of gas along the surface of the rolled product 1 is prevented and the rim parts of the rolled product are cooled much more compared with the central part of the same.
