PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for separating cells attached to an incubator, capable of efficiently separating and catching cells of the target animal or plant or microorganism and catching the cells. SOLUTION: When a desired cell is separated from a cell group attached to an incubator 2 supported to XYZ table 1 to collect the cell, a chelating agent solution is added to the interior of the incubator 2 to weaken attaching force of cell to the incubator 2 and then, laser light of a laser device 16 for light tweezers is focused into a desired cell and the cell is trapped and moved to an suction hole at the top of a micropipette 22 to collect the cell in a feeding, sucking and collecting device 7. Thereby, the cell can efficiently be separated and collected without breaking the cell attached to the incubator 2.
