PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit where a phase shift, between image data of each color element caused by color aberration of a lens system is more properly corrected and its correction amount is selected depending on a characteristic of the lens system or an image sensor. SOLUTION: A color aberration correction section 16 of the image processing unit is provided with interpolation processing sections 31R, 31B that apply interpolation processing to deviate R and B image data in an opposite direction on the basis of G image data and with an interpolation coefficient setting section 32 that sets an interpolation coefficient to each of a plurality of areas divided in a main scanning direction and gives the interpolation coefficient to the interpolation processing sections 31R, 31B, and also with saturation generating sections 33A-33E and data selection sections 34R, 34B to select image data with the smallest saturation among a plurality of the image data after the correction with a different deviation and distortion amount generated by the interpolation processing sections 31R, 31B.
