PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an improved method for connecting signal paths which supply signals at substantially different signal rates by making an encoded signal include bits obtained by encoding bits of a digital signal through recursive encoding algorithm. SOLUTION: The method for encoding the bits of the digital signal by a recursive encoding algorithm receives the digital signal, generates an intermediate signal by giving a prefix to the digital signal, and encoding the intermediate signal in combination into an encoded signal. The encoded signal includes bits obtained by encoding the bits of the digital signal through recursive encoding algorithm. For example, a controller 130 of an improved multiplexer 100 has an input S for receiving a control signal and 1st and 2nd outputs O1 and O2. The outputs O1 and O2 supply intermediate signals, which are asserted responding to the state of the control signal.
