PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head which is a small-sized magnetic head joined with a back plate to a supporting member and is capable of further lowering the inductance thereof and maintaining the electrical insulation between the current conducting part and supporting member of the magnetic head. SOLUTION: The back plate 32 consisting of composite material consisting of a back core 31 made of magnetic material and a nonconductive plate 29 of nonconductive material is formed. This back plate 32 is joined to the front surface of a slider. A flexure 33 is joined onto the nonconductive plate 29. As a result, the inductance may be reduced and the current leakage to the flexure 33 may be prevented.
