PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording device capable of recording data reproduced from CD players at a high speed equal to or faster than a double speed on an MD. SOLUTION: A device capable of recording data on two MDs is used in this device and in high speed dubbing mode (S1), the device stores compressingly processed data in the buffer memory of one side and, simultaneously, records the data on the MD of other side (S3). When the remaining capacity of the buffer memory becomes insufficient, the device changes over a sound compressing and expanding circuit to the sound compressing and expanding circuit of other side (S5) and it records the data on the MD of other is side similarly (S8) and when the remaining capacity of the buffer memory of other side becomes insufficient, it changes over the circuit to the former circuit of one side (S10) and it repeat this operation. When input data disappear, the device moves from S2 or S8 to the routine of a recording completing work (S30) and it performs a digital copy by using the compressed data as they are by reproducing the data of the MD of other side and transmitting them to the MD of one side and it makes the compress data to be recorded on one sheet of a disk.
