PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce unevenness of density or luminance of an image so as to stabilize the image formed on an image forming member. SOLUTION: An inputted analog image signal is converted to the digital data of 8 bits per one color component of one pixel by an ADC 111. The digital image data for one scanning line are corrected by an operation circuit 113 so as to match with element efficiency of each electron emitting element to be corrected as the data of respective 9 bits. The corrected image data are supplied in parallel to a pulse width modulation circuit 106 as the data for one line, and thus, the corrected image data are supplied to current switches 108 as row unit driving pulse width modulation signals. The current switches 108 impart the currents based on each element efficiency for a time shown by the imparted pulse width signals to each element.
