PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiency obtain a cell gap having high uniformity. SOLUTION: A transparent gap 3 is housed into a closed pressurizing chamber 2 in the state that a liquid crystal panel 1 is held by a sealing material 5 only on the side having an injection port. The liquid crystal panel 1 is pressurized by a pressurizing means and simultaneously the light from a light source 7 is transmitted through the transparent cap 3 and is cast to the liquid crystal panel 1. Interference fringes are generated at the point of this time. A manufacture visually recognizes the interference fringes by an eyeball A through the transparent cap 3, by which the cell gap state of the liquid crystal panel 1 is detected. The pressurizing force is controlled by using a pressure control valve in the direction of decreasing the number of generation of the interference fringes, by which the cell gap is made uniform. The interference fringes described above refer to the appearance of concentric fringe patterns known as Newton rings when light is cast to adjacently opposite reflection surfaces and two beams of reflected light interfere with each other to form the bright and dark fringe patterns. The number of the interference fringes is smaller as the cell gap is more uniform.
