PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension leveler capable of straightening ultrahard stainless steel having proof stress of >=130 kgf/mm2 which is impossible heretofore. SOLUTION: This leveler consists of elongating roll units and a multi roll unit succeeding the units, the elongating roll units are provided with a 1st elongating roll unit and 2nd elongating roll unit. All of respective elongating roll units consist of the work roll 11 of a straight roll, intermediate roll 14 at one end of which a tapered part is formed and back-up rolls 13 for supporting each intermediate roll 14. The intermediate roll 14 of the 1st elongating roll unit and intermediate roll 14 of the 2nd elongating roll unit are arranged reversing the tapered parts 14b to each other and both intermediate rolls 14 are freely movable forward and backward in the axial direction.
